Russell Sage College is a private, liberal arts college located in Troy, New York. The college was founded in 1916 by Margaret Olivia Slocum Sage, a prominent philanthropist and widow of industrialist Russell Sage. In 1949, Russell Sage College became a founding member of the Sage Colleges, a group of three institutions that includes Sage College of Albany and Sage Graduate School.
The college offers a variety of undergraduate programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional fields, such as nursing, education, and business. Russell Sage College also offers graduate programs in education, health services administration, and occupational therapy.
The campus is situated in a residential area of downtown Troy, and features a mix of historic and modern buildings, including the historic Troy Female Seminary building, which was constructed in 1820 and is now a National Historic Landmark. The college has a small student body, with a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 10:1, allowing for a personalized and intimate learning environment. Additionally, the college has a strong emphasis on community service, and students are encouraged to engage in service learning and community outreach activities as part of their education.
